GPT-6.1 Terra targets visual work and computer use

OpenAI releases GPT-6.1 Terra for visual reasoning, computer use and writing. It is a paid API model; tool calling requires the Responses API.

OpenAI recorded the release of GPT-6.1 Terra in its API changelog on October 26, 2026. Its documentation positions the model for matching product photos to catalog entries, interpreting technical drawings, acting on application screens and revising prose. It accepts text and images and produces text; image understanding is not the same as native image generation. This is a new API-model release, distinct from GPT-5.6 Terra, not an announcement of identical access for every ChatGPT subscriber.

Connect visual understanding to execution deliberately

Terra supports Responses and Chat Completions, but tool calling requires the Responses API. Reading a screen and completing a workflow are different system capabilities. The official guide supports adjustable reasoning, with medium as the default, and recommends comparing Terra generations on representative images and workflows at the same effort. AIZIGOO's adoption suggestion is to begin with narrow, checkable work such as catalog matching or read-only screen inspection. An acting agent also needs an execution environment, connected tools, scoped permissions and evidence that a task actually finished. Human approval is prudent for consequential actions such as payments or deletion.

Compare completed work, not an attractive response

The fast-and-efficient description is OpenAI's positioning, not an independent performance result established by this article. It does not guarantee success on a particular workflow or Korean-language interface. This is a metered, paid API model, not downloadable open weights or a free hosted service; context length, caching, processing tier and tool usage affect the bill. Our interpretation is that adoption should compare errors, retries, human correction time and total cost under the same inputs, permissions and completion criteria. Changing a model alone does not establish safe automation or lower operating costs.
