Runway App Studio turns creative workflows into reusable apps

Runway packages creative workflows as reusable apps. Building requires a paid plan and credits; official guidance differs on the scope of link sharing.

Reuse the production process, not just a prompt

Runway announced App Studio on October 26, 2026. Users describe an app in natural language, then refine its preview inside Runway. It connects existing image, video and audio capabilities with team resources rather than introducing a new foundation model. The building guide also explains how to inspect code and change the model behind a generation step.

Our practical interpretation is that a specialist's process could become a small interface accepting only a product photo and a brief. That could make handovers easier, but it is not evidence of consistent outputs or a replacement for review. Start with one repeatable job and test missing inputs and failure cases before expanding it.

Check credits and the actual sharing controls

Building is included in paid plans, but building, running and hosting consume credits. Free users may run built-in or shared apps; this is not unlimited free generation. The launch describes public links whose users sign in and spend their own generation credits.

However, the sharing guide states workspace-only access in its audience explanation and FAQ, while also listing a link-sharing option in one publishing step. These official descriptions differ. Verify the actual account's audience selector and administrator policy rather than promising universal external access or an anonymous public service. Customer examples remain supplier evidence, not an independent productivity evaluation.
